Mighty Mainframe is coming back, and we’re looking for the people who will help us shape it. From 9 to 11 May 2027, the mainframe community will gather once again alongside the QED conference, this time at the 5* Pical Resort in Poreč, Croatia. If you have a story worth telling, the Call for Speakers is now open.
Mastering the Mighty Mainframe
Mainframes already run what matters most: the payments, policies and transactions that businesses and societies depend on every day. So the next challenge isn’t simply to modernize them. It’s to master change. That means combining decades of human experience with AI, automation and modern engineering practices to build systems that are more adaptable, secure and valuable than ever.
That idea guides the 2027 edition, and it leaves us with a question we’d love you to answer: what does mainframe mastery look like in practice?
We’re not after buzzwords or polished slogans. We want honest, practical stories about how people, platforms and AI work together to evolve business-critical systems. Tell us what you tried, what failed, what you learned and what it delivered. Your story might be about developer productivity or AI-assisted modernization, cyber resilience or hybrid architecture, building skills or growing high-performing engineering teams. If it shows what mastery looks like where you work, it belongs here.
A small stage with a big audience
Mighty Mainframe is a conference within a conference. At our latest edition we hosted around 30 speakers in a focused program for people who work with the mainframe, care about it, or want to see where it’s heading. You won’t need to explain why the platform still matters. At the same time, we’re part of QED, the BizTech event with 200+ attendees, from business leaders to technologists, so during the breaks, conversation reaches well beyond the mainframe world.
Besides business and tech professionals, Mighty Mainframe also brings together university students, so your session might be the one that inspires the next generation of talented mainframers.
Our speakers tend to value the people they meet here as much as the stage itself. As Joseph Westman of RBC put it: “It’s been a great opportunity to meet new people in the tech community in Europe.”
